Willie James West

Willie James West Sr. 57 of Ravenswood WV, Formerly of Logan (Cantonlane) WV, departed this life on Saturday, May 21st, 2022, after complications of a heat stroke.

He was born December 15, 1964, in Logan WV to the late Beulah Mae West & Willie James Rollins.

West, as we called him was a sport enthusiast. In earlier years he participated in numerous basketball and football leagues in Logan and in Huntington. In his spare time, West devoted his time to The Ravenswood midget Boys Basketball which he helped lead to a championship.He was also the assistant coach for Ravenswood midget football league in Jackson County. He was a loyal fan of the NFL Denver Broncos. It was never a dull moment when he was around. Those who knew him will miss his goofy antics. He loved his family and we loved him; he will be dearly missed!

Those left to cherish his precious memories include his wife, Lisa Calhoun West of Charleston, WV; His lifelong friend Patricia (Trish) Peoples of Logan WV, A very dear friend, Alicia Stutler of Ravenswood, WV. Seven sons; Willie James West Jr. Jeremy Workman, Larry West, James West, Tyzaih Kaden West, Lucas West, Isaac West; Seven daughters, Ashley Vaughn, Amanda Vaughn, Brittany Carter, Lovely Ann West, J'Mece Young, Jamice West, La'Tasia West; Willie was a grandfather of twenty two grandchildren; four brothers, Melvin West of Delbarton WV, Sherman Lee Houston of Huntington WV, Robert Lee West of Charlotte NC, Frank (Melissa) West of IN; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Boatwright of Logan and Linda Rollins of D.C. He also had a host of cousins, nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Brenda Rollins, Joann West & Shirley Ann Brown; two brothers; Larry Houston & Joseph West.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Akers-James Funeral Home.
