William (Billy Joe) Joseph Browning

d. August 30, 2020

On Sunday August 30, 2020, William (Bill) Joseph Browning, 49 of Verdunville passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife and family by his side. Billy Joe as he was known by his loved ones, was born September 3, 1970 to his parents Bill and Nancy Allen Browning. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Johnny "Poppy" and Elva Browning of Mud Fork and his maternal grandparents Robert Allen of Switzer and Madeline Allen of Rensselaer, Indiana. His Aunt Teresa Miller of Verdunville, his Aunt Sylvia Ellis of West Logan, Lillian "Sis" Browning of Crooked Creek, as well as five of his Uncles. Also preceding him in death were his Bulldog Babies Roxy Browning and Molly "Big Girl" Burly Browning whom he adored. His parents moved back to West Virginia in 1972 where he attended Logan High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1988. After graduation he began working for the Logan County Sheriff's Department at the county jail as a Corrections Officer and then on to the South Western Regional Jail at Holden, where he also worked in Corrections. Billy Jo also attended West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Montgomery, were he received his bachelor's degree in Business. At the time of his passing he had been employed with Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, as a Security Officer for the last 17 years. Billy Joe had a passion for History, learning, &p traveling. His many travels led him to have extraordinary vacations with his wife and children from digging gemstones out of the ground in North Carolina to across the globe exploring the ancient city of Athens, and the volcanic island of Santorini in Greece. He was also a diehard fan of the Denver Broncos NFL football team and up until just two days before he passed had his wife checking for airline flights to Denver, Colorado so they may visit Mile High Stadium, the home of the Broncos He had been to many of their away games, in other states, however hadn't had the opportunity yet to travel to Colorado to attend a home game and had added this to his Bucket List over the years. On August 23 of this year, he married his fiancé Kimberly Callaway whom for the last 13 years together they have raised two beautiful daughters, Tiffany & Avari. His greatest accomplishment he would tell you besides seeing their girls into adulthood, was the relationship that he had with his granddaughter Aubriella. Their bond was unbreakable and she was the bright light to the worst year of his life. We would also like to add that knowing he only had days left to live, he never once complained and up to the day before he left us, he was still thinking only of others and not himself. He made the long trip out of state, knowing he would be extremely uncomfortable sitting for hours in a cramped vehicle, s to help his wife and oldest daughter bring home their newest member of the Browning family, an English Bulldog puppy named Luna Storm Sylvia Browning. He wanted his family to have something after he was gone that would bring them lots of joy, love and comfort in the days after he passed on. The last three days he was with us he gave his life to the the Lord and was baptized as well. Billy Joe was not a perfect man but, he was always truthful, a man of his word and Honorable. Those left to cherish his memory and keep it alive for his granddaughter are his loving wife Kimberly Callaway, his daughters Tiffany (Brandon McComas) Callaway & Avari Workman both of Logan, Malia Browning of Omar who lived w/us for a time back & whom Bill thought of as a daughter and his Pride & Joy granddaughter Aubriella Elizabeth Ann McComas of Logan, his parents Bill & Nancy Browning, his brother Rob Browning all of Verdunville, his loving Sister & Brother In-Law Carrie & Donsil "Jay" Mullins, his nephews whom he was very proud of Thomas "TJay" & William Connor Mullins all of Middleburg, his Uncle Benny (Kay) Browning of Dempsey Branch & their sons Brian(Stacy) of Peterstown,7 Jody( Robyn) Browning of Williamson, Aaron(Stephanie)Messer of Logan, his Uncle Ronnie & the late Nina Browning of Dempsey Branch & sons, Jason(Darla)Browning & Gary(Lisa)Browning both of Logan, his Aunt Donna (Nelson) Yates of Goose Creek, SC and sons Richard, Keith(Sheri) of Ruffin,SC, Steve(Dixie) of Summerville, SC and their sister Kim(Trifin)Travis of Blue Ridge, Georgia.
