Willa Vaness

Willa Margaret Adkins Vaness 87 of North Mitchell Heights went to be with her Lord on Sunday October 17, 2010 at her home. Born April 27, 1923 at Floyd County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Lucinda Adkins. She was also preceded in death by six sisters Opal Bentley, Inez Ousley, Stella Ousley, Ida Bond, Elsa Compton and Francis Vondenheuvel and four brothers Whitten Reffett, Jimmy Reffett, Shannon Reffett and Corbin Adkins. Mrs. Vaness was a former emplyee of Amherst Coal Company store at Yolyn. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ at Greenview. Survivors include her husband of 68 years Thomas Vaness, two daughters Phyllis Oiler at home and Sherri Akers of Terra Alta, WV, four grandchildren Jamie Oiler, Tony Akers, Bryan Akers, Desirae Akers and one great grandchild Desmond Akers, three sisters Lottie Cotterman, Kelsa (Phil) Carr and Alice Isaac, two brothers Paul (Donna) Reffett and John D. (Deb) Adkins and a host of nieces, nephews and family and friends who will always love her. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday October 21, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Cliff Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Wednesday October 20, 2010 at James Funeral Home. Family will serve as pallbearers. Honmorary Pallbearers will be Ed Thornhill, Gary Roeher, Eddie Hunter, Howard McGinnis, Steve Propst and Billy Ray Chafin.
