Wendell Wilkie Chapman

Wendell Wilkie Chapman 69 of Lyburn went to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 13, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston. Wendell was born November 1, 1940 to Birdie Nichols and Elmer Chapman. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Della and Drema Sue, brothers Sylvester and Charles and his best friend Buck Wells. Wendell loved his family, playing guitar, working in the yard and squirrell watching. He was a proud member of the UMWA. He was loved deeply by his family and admired by those who knew him. He is survived by his wife Shirley of 44 years, brother Ed Chapman and family of Illinois, sister Shirley Griffin and family of Ohio, children Tjuania (Joe), Christy, Karen (Ellis), Scott (Susan), Cindy (Rusty) and Bobby (Heather), grandchildren Tara (Dustin), Kevin, Shaylynn, Bill, Glenn (Jessie), Jennifer, Jordan, Dave, Carissa, Rusty, Cayden and Payton, great grandchildren Braxton, Andrew, Jayden and Kaitlin (almost here), numerous other friends and dear family. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday July 17, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barney Goins officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
