Thelma A. Conn 87 of Lyburn passed away Sunday August 22, 2010 at her residence. Thelma was born to the late Everett and Fay Buchannon Caldwell on August 19, 1923. She was preceded in death by her husband Cletis Conn in 2004 as well as her sons Everett, Gregory and Freelin. Thelma was also preceded in death by two siblings Lenora (Jo) Mullins and Everett (Swanee) Caldwell Jr., Surviving siblings are Shirley Beavers, Ila (Lou) Harvey, Peggy Blair, Thomas (Tom), James (Jim) and Edward (Ed) Caldwell. Surviving children are Roger (Margaret) Caldwell, Carolyn Smith, Gary (Beverly) Conn and Cleta (Carl) Scarborough. Thelma has thirteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Granddaughter Melissa Caldwell lived with Thelma the last six years, making it possible for Thelma to stay in her home. A special bond between the two made her last years meaningful as well as delightful. Part of Thelma's legacy was her wonderful home baking and candy making. She was a good listener and friend to many. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. A special Thank You to the pallbearers and Dignity Hospice. Their support and loving kindness made it possible to get through difficult times. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday August 26, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Weller officiating. Burial will follow in the Mullins Cemetery at Lyburn on Madison Creek Rd.Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Wednesday August 25, 2010 at James Funeral Home.
