Sharon Booher Smith, 74, of Hidden Valley, Chapmanville, departed this life on April 7, 2015.
Born February 8,1941 in Mallory, WV, Sharon was the youngest daughter of the late Claude and Golda Neace Booher. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Franklin Dale Smith, and two siblings, Regene Booher and Joann Isaacs.
Sharon was a 1959 graduate of Man High School, and continued her education, earning Bachelor and Masterâs Degrees from Marshall University. Sharon was employed by the Logan County Board of Education for 34 years. She began her career as a teacher at Mallory Grade School and advanced through various positions to conclude her career as the Director of Special Education, a position she held for 8years.She was a member of First Baptist Church of Logan. Sharon was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her classmates at Old Man High School reunions.
Sharon is survived by her daughters: Vicki (Jerry) Greene of Logan, WV; Stephanie (Chris) Currie of Shreveport, LA; and Valerie (Scott) Southerland of Winston-Salem, NC; and 8 grandchildren: Meagan, Michael and Matthew Greene; Thomas, Harrison and Corinne Currie; and Sarah and Elizabeth Southerland. She is also survived by her sister, Lorene Shell, of Delray Beach, FL.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 11, at 12pm at First Baptist Church of Logan with the Reverend Doctor Chris Currie officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Friday, April 10 at James Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations to First Baptist Church of Logan.
