Sandra Adams

Sandra M. Adams 74 of Whitman, WV departed this life for her heavenly home on Wednesday November 8, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Huntington, WV, after a short illness.

Sandra was a resident of Whitman for 74 years.  She was the daughter of Paul and Monnie Elizabeth Kelly Adams who were awaiting her to join them in their heavenly home. Sandy (as she answered to) was born at her home in Whitman.

As well as her parents she was preceded in death by her her paternal grandparents Millard and Lucy Adams formerly of Liberal, Kansas, she was also preceded on death by her maternal grandparents, Gordon, and Nelly’s Kelly formerly of Whitman.
Sandy was a devoted Christian having served the Lord for 25 plus years.  She was a member of the Whitman Church of God for years.

She was a nurse’s aide for many years at Guyan Valley Hospital, Logan, WV.

She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Paul Merial Adams, Keith Erwin Adams and Mark Allen Adams.

She is survived by Kelly Shawn(Donald) Gauze of Whitman, Nancy Adkins of Justice Addition, Millie (JD) Wolfe of Huntington, and Rebecca (Reather) Gilman of Whitman.  One brother James ((Linda) Adams of Mill Creek.

She also had many friends, cousins, she has also left behind.  She also left behind a very special family Alan and Leslie Gilman along with her nephews, Harold (Lynn) Preece, Jase and Nolan and nieces Annabeth and Eden Gilman all of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14 from 6-9 pm at Akers-James Funeral Home and the funeral Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 11:00 am, also at the funeral home. It will officiated by Rev. Lonnie Gore and Brother Harold McMillen, Jr.  She will be placed to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetary, Pecks Mill, WV. 

Pallbearers will be Donald Gauze, JD Wolfe, Harold Preece, William Hill, James Hill, and Kevin Hill.
