Samuel Harold Vance

Samuel Harold Vance, 70 of Dingess, WV passed away peacefully at his home on November 9, 2023.

He was born November 15, 1952, in Dingess, WV to the late Harold and Esther Vance. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Eric Steven Vance of Dingess, WV; his loving sisters, Violet Thompson, Bobbie Likens, Amelie Pack, and Marshellia Vance, all of Dingess, WV; loving brothers, George Hager, and Ivon Vance both of Dingess, WV, Billy Gene Vance of Chicago, IL, and Grover Vance of Huntington, WV.

Sam was a 1971 graduate of Lenore High School. He was a retired coal miner and a longtime horse-trading cowboy. Sam was a master in the kitchen, always wanting to cook and share with his loved one. He loved being outdoors, always into something, especially riding his SXS in the mountains with his close friends and family. Sam was very hard working and one of the toughest. He loved pretty, shiny things, and was always sharply dressed. He enjoyed sitting and talking about some of life’s greatest lessons. Sam was a friend to many and will certainly be missed by his family, and withing our community.

Samuel is survived by his loving wife, Nathalena Vance; his loving daughter, Misty Dawn Vance; grandsons, Bryan James Damron, and Steven Tyler Damron. He is also survived by a host of special nieces, nephews, and many other loving family and friends that he thought the world of.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, at Akers-James Funeral Home with Pastor Vivie Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in the Kiser-York Family Cemetery at Dingess. The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
