Ruth Carol Shanklin

Ruth Carol Shanklin, 75 of Fort Branch, WV departed this life Monday, June 12th, 2023, at Logan Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. 

She was born June 17, 1947, at Fort Branch to the late Leonard and Beatrice Chambers. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Chambers, Roger Chambers, and Herman Chambers.

Ruth retired in 2008 from Bob's Union 76 of Logan after 30 years. She enjoyed beach trips, Nascar races, and spending time with her dog, Louie. Ruth loved gardening her flowers and being outdoors. 

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Shanklin; daughter, Teresa (Teddy) Copley of Garret Fork; sisters, Delores Vance, and Stella Hightower; brothers, John (Sandy) Chambers, and Jimmy Chambers; brothers-in-law, David (Joyce) Shanklin, Buzz (Joyce) Shanklin, and Tommy (Lois) Shanklin, and sister-in-law, Sharon Chambers. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Akers-James Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2023, also at the funeral home. 

Pallbearers will be Brandon Chambers, Lee Chambers, Paul Shanklin, Rick Hightower, Ralph Hightower, and Kevin Brewer.
