Ruth Laverne Patterson Cocimano

d. August 13, 2020

Ruth Laverne "Bootsie" Cocimano (Patterson), 84 of Edgewater, MD, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Ruth and Vernon Patterson of Logan, WV. Ruth was born and raised in Logan, WV and graduated from Logan High in 1954. She was raised on the family farm and always treasured and recalled, with many fond memories, the valuable life lessons she gathered there. While visiting a friend in Washington, DC in 1955, she met her future husband, Joe Cocimano. They were married in 1957 and lived in Washington, DC for a few years before moving to Maryland. Ruth was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother as well as a dear and cherished friend to all who knew her. For many years after her marriage she was a homemaker caring for her family. In 1979 she started working for the federal government at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where she worked as a program analyst until her retirement in 2007. She was an active member of her church community, volunteering, teaching, and serving her entire adult life. Ruth was a very genuine, kind, and caring person and very much enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cocimano and her brothers, Junior, Johnny, Joe, and Frank Patterson. Her youngest brother, Charlie, passed just 24 hours after her on August 14. Those left to cherish her memory are her son Greg (Paula) Cocimano, her daughter Terri Konoza, her son Mike Cocimano, her grandson Anthony (Adria) Konoza, and great grandson Adam Konoza; also, three sisters: Catherine Ribble, Jean Lynn, and Betty (Ralph) Hagedorn and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. The family would like to thank all of those who visited Ruth and those who kept in touch with her by phone and/or mail over the years, especially the past few years as her illness progressed---it meant so much to her. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, there will be a private graveside service at 2 P.M., Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD that will be live streamed via the link at www.distantlink.com/JFHMobile.html Online condolences may also be left on the website www.jamesfh.com.
