Roy Howard Browning Jr.

Roy Howard Browning Jr., 70 of Mt. Gay, WV departed this life March 9, 2023, at his residence.

He was born June 13, 1952, in Logan, WV to the late Roy H. Browning Sr. and Ruby P. Browning. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Deloris (Hobert) Day.

He was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran, where he served in the Army as a Gunner. He enjoyed cooking for his friends and neighbors and was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone in need. Roy will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his sons, Roy Howard (Heather) Browning III of Oakwood, OH, and Johnny Lee (Ashe) Browning of Defiance, OH; sisters, Ester Marie Marcum of West Logan, Mary Lou (Roger) Damron of Logan, and Lona Kay (Bill) Mayhorn of Man, WV; 5 grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2023, at Akers-James Funeral Home with Rev. Timmy Mullins of the Verdunville Church of God officiating. Honoring his wishes, his remains are to be cremated following the services. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of the service, Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Akers-James Funeral Home to help with the funeral expenses.
