Phillip Baisden

d. June 9, 2020

Phillip D. Baisden (PD), 70, of Neibert, WV made his departure from this life peacefully on Tuesday, June 9th, 2020 at St. Mary's Cornerstone in Huntington, WV after struggling with a sudden spell of health issues, also surrounded by some of his loving, immediate family. Phillip was born on June 15th, 1949, the son of the late Ira Buford Baisden and Marilyn Lorraine Gore of 12 Pole, WV. Preceding him in death are his loving and dedicated wife of approximately 48 years Connie Elkins-Baisden of Neibert, WV, his daughter Dena Baisden-Marsh of Knoxville, TN, stepmother Penny Baisden of WV, his uncles Ivan (Yvonne) Gore of 12 Pole, WV and Marvin (Mildred) Gore of City View, WV, and grandson Seth Canterbury of Lyburn, WV. Those still around to cherish his memory are his aunt Polly Murphy of Dingess, WV, his uncle Rev. Kenneth Gore of Lenore, WV. Phillip was a loving and supportive father to his three daughters, Dena Baisden-Marsh of Knoxville, TN (deceased), Tiffany (David) Baisden-Tackett of Neibert, WV, stepdaughter Tammy Gordon of Lyburn, WV, and his granddaughter that he adopted and raised as his own daughter Haeleigh Baisden of Ashland, KY. Phillip was a grandfather to five other grandchildren including Heather Pridemore-Linton of Knoxville, TN, Hannah Vance of Logan, WV, Brianna Canterbury of Raleigh, NC, Alex Canterbury of Lyburn, WV, and Tristan Baisden (Gaige) of Raleigh, NC. Phillip was a great-grandfather to two great-granddaughters Hadley and Eloise Michelle Linton. Phillip also had an immense amount of nieces, nephews, and other family members that he held dear to his heart. The family would like to say a special thank you to Logan Regional Medical Center (LRMC), St. Mary's Cornerstone of Huntington, WV, and a very special thank you to Marty Hurley, Phillip's nephew that he thought of as a brother more than a nephew, someone he fully trusted with his life and loved dearly. A celebration of his life will be held with visitation from 5-7pm and the official service beginning at 7pm on Thursday, June 18th, 2020 at Akers-James Funeral Home in West Logan, WV wit Rev. Donnie Wells officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.jamesfh.com and any heartfelt words left are truly appreciated and will surely not go unnoticed. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and the CDC’s guidelines for large gatherings only 100 people will be allowed in the facility at one time. We also recommend face coverings be worn and social distancing be practiced. Akers-James Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
