Mildred Hannah Maynard

Mildred Hannah Maynard, 97 of Logan, WV passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

She was born March 7, 1929, at Thacker, WV to the late George W. and Susie Compton Hannah. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 ½ years, Ben Maynard Jr.; brothers, Herman Hannah of Madison, WV, Hobart Hannah of Florida, infant brother, Billy, and her sister, Marie H. Rakes of Wilkinson, WV.

Mildred was a member of the Steele Memorial United Methodist Church at Barboursville, WV, where she was very active until her health declined. She was a proud graduate of Logan High School and the Huntington School of Business. She was employed by Appalachian Power Co. in Logan with 35 ½ years of service.

She is survived by her great-niece, with whom she made her home, Susan Kazee Brown (Jim) of Wilkinson; the apple of her eye, great-great-nephews, David Brown (Candice Corathers), and Matthew Brown (Jenna Tomblin), both of Wilkinson; her loving niece, Carolyn Hannah Mullins of Madison; great-niece, Susan K. Shreve (Bruce) of Madison; and great-great-niece, Dr. Katie Shreve Simpkins (Garth) of Newton, IL; loving nephews, Hobart R. Rakes (Judy) of Ohio, Rudy Hannah (Kathy) of Florida, Bruce Hannah (Diana) of Ohio, and Ronald D. Rakes (Patty) of Ohio. Mildred is also survived by many other great and great-great nieces and nephews.

At Mildred’s request there will be a graveside service for family only on April 3, 2026, at Highland Memory Gardens, Chapmanville, WV.
