Mildred Ruth Ferrell Craddock, 91, of Charles Town, formerly of Logan, passed away Saturday September 16, 2006, at the home of her daughter Emily Craddock Cooper, with whom she resided. She was born December 3, 1914, at Chapmanville, a daughter of the late Elbert and Lena Haner Ferrell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Craddock's husband Ernest B. Craddock, whom she married on June 12, 1937, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter Leah Mildred Cooper, sisters, Hattie Lewis, Ruby Johnson, Lola Jones, Wanda Hershberger and Eunice Ferrell, and brothers Norvin and Dorsey Ferrell. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands: Susan Craddock Partain and George L. Partain of Logan; Emily Craddock Cooper and James O. Lee of Charles Town; Eleven grandchildren, Elizabeth Forester and husband Pat Dodd of Madison, Adam John Cooper and wife Stephanie of Charles Town, Mark John Cooper and fiance Erin Williams of Raleigh, NC; Melissa Trinity Lee, Sarity Charity Lee, Valerie Patience Lee, Marina Hope Lee, Marsha Grace Lee, Katerina Joy Lee, Katie Faith Lee, and Lena Dove Lee all of Charles Town; one great granddaughter Katherine Elizabeth Forester of Madison; one brother William E. Ferrell and wife Wilda of Nitro; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Craddock was a retired schoolteacher, with over thirty years of service in Logan County Schools. She began her teaching career at the Lane School in Chapmanville District in 1933 and retired from Justice Elementary School in 1975. She was a graduate of Chapmanville High School and Marshall University. Mrs Craddock joined the First Christian Church of Logan alongside her husband in 1948, where she served as elder, deaconess, Sunday school teacher, choir member, CWF study chairman and many other positions. She was a past secretary of the Triangle Garden Club and a charter member of the Logan County Genealogical Society. She also was a member of the Logan County Retired Teachers Association, the Presbyterian Fellowship, National Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma International Educational Society. She traveled extensivley in the United States and in foreign countries. She was especially known for her knowledge and love of the wildflowers in Chief Logan State Park. Service will be conducted Tuesday September 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Logan with Dr. Charles Wood officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. also on Tuesday at the Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Christian Church of Logan, P.O. Box 88, Logan, WV 25601, the Logan County Charity and Education Trust, P.O.
