Melodee Brewster, 59, of Holden, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Charleston Area Medical Center following a short illness.
Born on December 15, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Charlotte Adkins of Crooked Creek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Michael Brewster; grandparents: Vivian and Dee Hall of Crooked Creek and Elbert and Sarah Adams of Huntington; one sister, Lisa Adkins and one brother, Robin Adams, both of Crooked Creek; and one brother-in-law, Jack Blankenship, of Monaville.
Melodee worked at Hall Drug Store and then chose to stay at home and raise her children.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Hope (Larry) Williamson of Verdunville; one son, Jason (Irene) Brewster of Holden; two sisters: Merry Blankenship of Monaville and Abigail (Gary) Shahan of Crooked Creek; five brothers: Randy (Rosemary) Adams, Bryan (Cindy) Adams, Terry (Debbie) Adams, all of Crooked Creek, Holly (Katrina) Adams and Jeff (Judy) Adams of Whitman; five grandchildren: Ethan and Rylee Williamson, Kimberly and Jacob Abraham, and Derrick Brewster; two very special nieces that she considered granddaughters: Morgan and Alison Adkins; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Secrist officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Whitman Family Cemetery at Crooked Creek. Friends may gather at the funeral home between 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014.
