Mary Jane (McDonald) Burns, 93 of Crooked Creek, WV slipped from this life into the arms of Jesus Sunday, April 27, 2025 at her residence.
She was born September 2, 1931 at West Logan to the late Ernest and Ruth (Ray) McDonald. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Athalee "Granny" McDonald and Jean Ann McDonald Boyd; brothers, Ray, Harold, and Michael McDonald; the father of her children, Stanford Burns; and son-in-law, Jim Stapleton.
Mary was a life-long member of the Crooked Creek Church of Christ. She also enjoyed attending the Justice Christian Church hearing her nephew, Dr. Bill McDonald and later his son, Caleb McDonald bring the word. Mary Jane worked 40 years at the Logan A&P Tea Company. She enjoyed her job and the many customers with whom she made lasting friendships.
Survivors include her daughters, Gleneeda Stapleton of Peach Creek and Alfreda Burns, with whom she made her home; grandchildren, Edward Stapleton of Peach Creek and Wendy (Russell) Roark of Drums, PA; great-granddaughters, Larissa Roark and Miranda Roark; 2 great-great-grandaughters and 1 great-great-grandson, all of Drums, PA; siblings, Glenn McDonald of Crooked Creek and Betty Rose McDonald Taylor of Bedford, IN, and cousin, Linia Cooper of Bristol, TN.
Special thank you to the ladies at Parkway who always made her feel like family and loved her. She loved all of you in return.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Minister Caleb McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service, Friday at the funeral home.
