Maria Elena Ramirez Copley, age 59, peacefully passed into the presence of her Lord on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Maria was born on March 22, 1957, in Holden, West Virginia. Maria is the daughter of Benigno and Emelia "Millie" Ramirez and the sister of Nick and Rick Ramirez.
Maria worked at West Virginia Supermarkets, Watson's, and Walmart in Logan where she made many friends who would become part of her extended family. Maria enjoyed going to church, making others happy, cooking, and her family. She loved everyone she met often calling Emelia's friends her own children and treating them as such.
Maria is preceded in death by her most cherished granddaughter Olivia Arielle Chapman, her loving parents Benigno and Emelia Ramirez, her special Tia Victoria Mendez, her cherished sister-in-law Phyllis Ramirez, and her infant nephew Joshua Ramirez.
Maria leaves behind her husband Troy Copley, her daughter Emelia (Leslie) Hobbs of Holden, her step children Donald (Jennifer) Copley, Christine (Dale) Dickey, Rancine (Larry) Belcher all of Logan. She also leaves her devoted brothers Nick Ramirez of Chapmanville and Rick (Dianne) Ramirez of Holden. Nieces and nephews who loved and will greatly miss her are Jennifer (Paul) Immo of Leesburg, VA, Gabrielle Ramirez, Malina Ramirez, Benjamin Ramirez, Morgan Ramirez, Joseph Ramirez, and Phyllicia and Nicholas Immo. Maria also leaves behind her faithful childhood friend Nina Mahone and many cousins who will cherish their memories of her forever.
Services will take place Friday, January 13, 2017, at Akers-James Funeral Home in Logan, West Virginia. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM with a memorial service beginning at 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to help with funeral expenses.
