Margaret (Evans) Keener, 86 departed this life Sunday April 9 at Logan Regional Medical Center. She was born January 20, 1931 at Coal Branch, WV. She was the oldest child of the late Thomas Jefferson and Mary Lou Willison Evans. Margaret married the loved of her heart Ernest Harold (Red) Keener July 22, 1950. Together they had 9 children. When they got married Margaret gained 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Margaret was preceded in death by: her husband on July 31, 1974 to a tragic accident. Mom remained faithful to her family and always kept an open-door policy to them all. Margaret was also preceded in death by: her brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy (Barbara Mitchell) Evans, Robert (Cob) Evans; sister, Kathleen (Roy) Kinser, and sister-in-law Joyce (Adams) Evans; 3 brothers-in-law, Robert Neil Keener, Hayward (Toots) Keener, Gary (Jack) Keener, sister-in-law, JoAnn (Van) Shields, son-in-law, Oliver Jackson Jr., and one grandson, Jamie Jackson; three nieces, Judith and LaNelle Keener, and Barbara Ann Kinser; two nephews, Danny Kinser, and Douglas Steven Shields. Margaret is survived by: four daughters, Betty Louise Jackson of Duncan Fork, WV, Mary Alice (Bobby) Collins of Verdunville, Teresa Ann (Larry) Bryant of Verdunville, and Tammy Sue (David) Long; one son, Haroldene Keener of Verdunville; brother, Roy Evans of Verdunville; one special daughter, Audrey Estep of Verdunville; two brothers-in-law, William Don (Betty) Keener of Virginia Beach, VA, and Charles (Patsy) Keener of Michigan; sisters-in-law, Sylvia (Larry) Long of Michigan, and Patty Keener of New Mexico; grandchildren, Jennifer (Danny) Dempsey, Rachael (William Darrell) Muncy, Keith (Darla) Jackson, Thomas Jeffery Collins, Jeremy Cleston, Collins, BreAnna (Jeremy Todd) Green, Heather (Ben) Collins, Tiffany (Anthony) Browning, Leslie (Michael) Gibson, Bethany (Randy) Hatfield Jr., and David Gwen Long; great-grandchildren, Jenna Dempsey, Haylea (Will) Varney, Jacob Curry, Blake Muncy, Nicholas, Nathaniel, and Zoey Jackson, Camron and Dakota Jackson, Luke and Noah Browning, Jaren, Jordan, and Taylor Goff, Talan Gibson, Jazzlynn, and Jacelynn Hatfield; great-great-grandchild, Jaxon Daniel Dempsey, this made 5 generations for mom’s family and she was so proud of this little man. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday April 15 at the Verdunville Church of God with Bishops Michael Hartwell and Scotty Dingess officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Pallbearers will be: Thomas Jeffery Collins, Jeremy Cleston Collins, Danny Dempsey, Ben Collins, Jeremy Todd Green, and Michael Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be: William (Don) Keener, Charles Keener, Larry Long, Vernon Bunch, James Long, and Johnny Keener. Friends and family may call from 6 – 9 p.m. Friday April 14 also at the church. Online condolences may be left at www.jamesfh.com Akers-James Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
