Mabel Watts

Mabel Watts, 85 of Pleasant View, WV departed this life Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House at Huntington, WV. She was born June 5, 1935 in Wayne County, WV to the late Richard and Durcey Poindexter. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents who raised her, Frank, and Ellen Wooten. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Watts; sisters, Molly Poindexter, Evelyn Goodwin, and Wanda Davis; brothers, Everette Poindexter, and Jerry Poindexter. Mabel was of the Baptist faith and attended numerous churches in the area. She was a very caring and hard-working person and was good to everyone she knew. She is survived by her daughters, Shelia Baker; stepchildren, Dallas Watts, Fred Watts, Ray Watts, Roy Watts, and Alice Miles; sisters, Glenna Flowers, and Janet (Howard) Huffman; brothers, Leonard Poindexter, and Carl (Ethel) Poindexter. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Bro. David Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville, WV. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday, at the funeral home.
