Kathy Burgess Keyser, 77, of McConnell, WV, died unexpectedly at Logan General Hospital on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

She was born April 19, 1946, in McConnell, WV, a daughter of the late Leonard and Lillian Burgess.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Keyser; her son, Teddy Keyser; her brothers, Melvin “Buck” Burgess and Leonard Guy Burgess and her sister; Dixie Burgess Clevenger.

Kathy was a graduate of Logan High School and attended West Virginia Career College in Huntington, WV.

She was a co-manager of Nick’s News in Huntington, WV, for many years. She then went on to become the co-owner of Family Books & News in Logan, WV. Most recently, Kathy was a purchasing agent at Logan Hydraulics. She was an active member of McConnell Tabernacle in McConnell, WV.

Kathy was a fun loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt who loved her family and spending time with them. She loved her community and attending her church. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles and watching late night tv shows and movies. Her furry companion, Tigger, was always by her side. She had a special place in her heart for lighthouses, with her favorite being located at The Outer Banks of North Carolina, where she shared wonderful memories with her late husband Carl. Kathy also enjoyed spending time at the camp in Greenbrier County with her father and siblings.

Those left to remember Kathy include two daughters; Michele (Jack) Womack of Dunedin, Florida, and Melissa (John) Ahad of Belmont, NC; two brothers, Richard “Dick” Burgess of McConnell, and Bruce Burgess of Gilbert, WV; 7 grandchildren, Kyle Womack and Ryan Womack, both of Dunedin, FL, Maggie Denning of Belmont, NC, Colin Ahad of New Boston, OH, Abbie Denning of St. Petersburg, FL, Ally Ahad of Cleveland, TN and Caleb Ahad of Belmont, NC;4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. She also had a special relationship with her sisters-in-law; Nora Burgess and the late Debra (Phipps) Burgess and Betty J Burgess, as well as her lifelong best friend, Joan (McClellan) Podunavac.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Akers-James Funeral Home with Rev. Keith McClung officiating. Burial will follow at Hinchman Cemetery in McConnell, WV.

Friends may call Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 12:00 till 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be John Ahad, Blake Burgess, Caleb Ahad, and Chayden Maynard.
