Kanawha Holbrook 84 of Holden passed away Monday August 10, 2009 at Trinity Healthcare Services at Henlawson.He was born May 30, 1925 at Greenup, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Frank Holbrook of Ohio and Goldie Thornsberry Stafford of Holden. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three sisters Marie Ridgeway, Darlene Stafford and Betty Stafford. He served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945 and was honorable discahrged. He also retired from the Department of Highways. He is survived by his wife Carol Hooley Holbrook of Holden, two sons Ronnie (Nancy) Holbrook of Ethel and Bruce Holbrook of Holden, one daughter Connie (Alan) Gambrel of Augusta, Georgia, daughter-in-law Lora Holbrook of Harts, 6 grandchildren Steven Holbrook, Briana and Kyle Holbrook, Adam and Josh Lutz and Jessica Hartman, 1 great grandchild Sara Lutz, brother Jimmy Holbrook of Columbus, Ohio, sisters Mavis Thompson, Doris Bumgarner and Elaine Alexander. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and one special close friend Regina Baisden. A memorial service will be held on Thursday August 13, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Rodney Spears officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday.
