Julia Marie (Barker) Winter

Julia Marie Barker Winter, 92, of Wilkinson, WV, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV. Julia was born January 26, 1924, in Henlawson, WV, to Curtis and Eliza Blevins Barker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Robert L. Winter; sisters: Grace Meadows and Lois Richards; brother: Fletcher “Shag” Barker; and great-grandson Charles “Tripp” Vernon Curry III. Julia worked for some time at Raymonds Department Store in downtown Logan. She and her husband Bob enjoyed bowling for many years at the local bowling alleys. Julie also loved the Atlanta Braves. Julia is survived by her children: Eleanor (David) Collins, Patricia (Charles) Curry, and Robert (Angela) Winter II; sisters: Ida Rose Saylor and Jenny Garrett; grandchildren: Robert (Karen) Curry, Robyn Winter, Charles (Brandi) Curry II, David Collins, Jeffery (Melissa) Curry, Taunya (Randall) Vance, Danielle “ Nikki" (Kevin) Lomonof, Robert “Bo” (Angela) Winter III and Garrett Winter; great-grandchildren: Jacob Curry, Morgan Mattas, Hayley Curry, Julia-Faith Mattas, Cameron Curry, Katarina Curry, Carter Curry, Joseph McKnight, Noah Curry, Isaac Vance, Kasen Collins, and Parker Vance; one great-great-grandchild: Ava Curry; and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, August 14 at Akers-James Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. and the funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Entombment services will follow at Chapel Mausoleum located in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV. Pallbearers will be Robert Curry, Charles Curry II, David Collins, Jeffery Curry, and Randall Vance.
