Julia Recupero

Julia Recupero, 42 of Logan, WV departed this life Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV.

She was born April 28, 1984, in Elmhurst, IL to Carl and Tina (Dress) Varney of Logan, WV. Julia was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Pete and Myrle Dress; paternal grandparents, Julia and Carl Varney; uncles, Phillip Dress, Gary Varney, and numerous other family members.

Julia was currently a teacher at Justice Grade School, and previously taught for Pride Community Services. She was well loved and inspired many of her students over her 20+ year career. In her free time Julia enjoyed kayaking, camping, fishing, and four wheeling.

In addition to her parents those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jason Recupero; children, Katarina Recupero, and Zachary Recupero, all at home; sister, Melissa (Jason) Nelson; brothers, Carl Varney Jr. and Phillip (Leeann) Varney; bonus daughter, Piper Clemens, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Honoring her wishes her remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Belcher officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
