John Paul Nelson

John Paul Nelson Sr., 86 of Mt. Gay, WV departed this life Sunday, August 18, 2019 at his home. He was born October 8, 1932 at Mt. Gay to the late Fred and Emma Nelson. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by four sisters, Ethel, Ruby, Molly, and Virginia; and one brother, Wetzel Nelson. John was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, June Nelson; four sons, John “P.J.” Nelson of Cora, James (Maggie) Nelson of Lake, Daniel (Cynthia) Nelson of Cora, and Matthew (Kellie) Nelson of Boone County, WV; seven grandchildren, Katherine (Silas) Saylor, Victoria (Hank) Nelson, Chris Nelson, Jeffrey Nelson, Johnathon Nelson, Trevon Nelson, and Braxton Nelson; 3 great-grandchildren, Colton and Levi Saylor, and Gracelynn Atwell; along with a host of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday August 21, 2019 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Ceburn Blankenship officiating.
