Joan McClellan Podunavac

Joan (McClellan) Podunavac, 74 of McConnell passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at Logan Regional Medical Center. Born September 5, 1946 to the late Harley and Kathleen McClellan she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Harlan Podunavac, and brother-in-law, John Shriver. Joan was a member of the LHS class of 1964 reunion committee. She enjoyed spending time with her classmates at reunions and their luncheons. She was very proud of her grandchildren and always happy to tell everyone of their accomplishments and activities. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Michael (Christa) Podunavac of Hudson, NC; daughter, Angie (David) Meade of Holden; grandchildren, Hunter (Katlyn) of Charleston, WV, Dylan, and Cadence Podunavac of Husdon, NC, Reagan, Robert, and Raven Meade all of Holden, WV, Cassidy Kazee of Margantown, WV, and Sammi Kazee of Cow Creek, WV; great-grandchildren, Braxton Meade of Sissonville, WV, and Paislee White of Charleston, WV; brother, Jerry (Henrietta) McClellan of McConnell, WV; sisters, Delane (Bill) Suttle of Cincinatti, OH, Margaret Shriver of McConnell, WV, and Connie (Jerry) Brown of Cyclone; brothers-in-law, Ray Podunavac of Henlawson, Steve (Bonnie) Podunavac of Henlawson, and Louie (Joyce) Podunavac of Wurtland, KY; sister-in-law, Julia Armstrong of Logan; special daughter that she loved as her own, Carla (Jason) Fillinger of Cow Creek; her lifelong best friends, Roni Kazee and Kathy Burgess both of McConnell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Akers-James Funeral Home with John Godby and C.D. Wolford officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday, at the funeral home.
