Joan Kay McCloud

Today, our hearts are broken as we all mourn the loss of our beloved sister, aunt and sister-in-law. 

Joan Kay McCloud, 68 of Mt. Gay gained her heavenly wings June 19th, 2023, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.  She was a 1973 graduate of Lenore High School and of Christian faith.  She was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Flora McCloud.  She is survived by stepfather: Tommy Junior Marcum, brother: John (Laura) McCloud, sisters: Peggy (French) Burke, JoAnne (Jimmy) Moore, and Judy (Robert) Gore.  She had a special love for Wesley Flint, her nephew that she thought of as a son.  She loved each one of her nieces, nephews and great-niece and great-nephews. When Joan was well Keshia was her lunch buddy. We will miss her contagious laugh and competitive game playing during the holidays as she looked forward for all of the family to get together plus playing scrabble with JoAnne.  

Her bright light and big heart left us too soon, but we will remember her warmth, love, and generosity.  We all love you, Joan!  Enjoy heavenly paradise. 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at Akers-James Funeral Home with William Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of the services.
