Jewell Kazee

Jewell Raikes Kazee, 80, of Wilkinson, WV, went home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 21, 1941, to the late Hubert and Marie Hannah Raikes. Also, preceding her in death, was her loving husband Arnold Kazee, an infant son David Allen, and sister Linda Raikes Ramsey. Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved and devoted daughter Susan (Jim) Brown of Monaville. Grandsons, who were the loves of her life, David Scott (Candice Corathers) and Matthew Allen Brown. Two brothers, Hobert (Judy) Raikes and Ronald (Patricia) Raikes. Loving cousins Carolyn Hannah Mullins, Rudy Hannah, and Bruce Hannah. Very special Uncle and Aunt, Ben and Mildred Maynard. Special friend, Beth Wooten Kinder, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Jewell was a graduate of Logan High School. She was employed by the Logan County BOE until 1975. She was a devoted member of Central United Baptist Church for 50 years and was very active in the choir and the Ladies Auxiliary. Services will be held August 9, 2021 @ 2:00 PM, at Central United Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Skeens officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, August 8 from 6:00 -8:00 at the church. Family may attend from 5:00 - 6:00. Men of the church, Art Kirkendoll, Shawn Browning, Nathan Thornhill, Darren Akers and Mark “Peanut” Hampton will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. The family would like to thank Dr. Billy Mullen and his staff for their many years of loving care, Central United Baptist Church and Dignity Hospice for their devotion and care, and the 5th Floor at Logan Regional Medical Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Central United Baptist Church, PO Box 1588 Logan, WV 25601. Arrangements have been entrusted to Akers-James Funeral Home, Logan, WV.
