James "Big Jim" Stapleton 66, of Peach Creek, WV passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Logan Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 30, 1949 in Logan a son of the late Edward and Betty Gleason Stapleton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents Luther and Mary Stapleton, James and Marie Gleason. Also his first wife Judy Robinson Stapleton.
"Big Jim" was the owner and operator of Stapleton Transfer for 43 years. He was also a member of the Coal Country Rod & Custom Car. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America in Crooked Creek and his favorite past time was going to Tennessee to the car shows.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Glenneeda Stapleton of Peach Creek, Daughter Wendy (Russell) Roark of Drums, PA, son Edward Stapleton at home. Brothers Lanny (Tammy) Stapleton of Crooked Creek, Danny (Dorothy) Stapleton of Peach Creek, Roger (Carolyn) Stapleton of Mitchell Heights. Sister Dreama (Pat) Patterson of Holden. Two grandchildren Larissa and Miranda. Several special friends. Special brother in laws Tommy Fink, Kenneth Robinson and Bobby Adams. Mother in law Mary Jane Burns of Crooked Creek and sister in law Alfreda Burns of Crooked Creek. Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Friends may call from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Edward Stapleton, Wesley Varney, Tommy Fink, Jeremy Stapleton, Danny Ray Crum, Russell Roark and Brent Patterson. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Stapleton, Roger Stapleton, Lanny Stapleton, Pat Patterson, Larry Roark andBuddy Dempsey. James Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
