Elder James Frazier 88 of Dempsey Branch Road went to his final reward on Monday November 30, 2009 surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born April 8, 1921 at Wayne, West Virginia he was the son of the late Walter and Norma Dean Frazier.He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Jo Brooks Frazier and his second wife Sonia Mae Zornes Frazier, one son Walter Lester Frazier, two brothers Willis and Edward Frazier and one sister Ima Jean Frazier Steele. An ordained Minister of the Freewill Baptist Church since 1954, he was last associated with the Christian Fellowship Conference of Freewill Baptist Churches. He served as Pastor of the Madison Creek Freewill Baptist Church, the Morning Star Freewill Baptist at West Fork of Harts and the Bright Star Freewill Baptist Church at Melville. During World War II, Elder Frazier was a decorated member of the United States Navy serving in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Columbia and the USS Comfort. He continued his patriotism after the war as a proud member of the American Legion and supporter of the Marine League and the VFW. A disabled coal mimner he was last employed at Elkay Mining Company on Rum Creek. He was a proufd member of the United Mine Workers of America recently receiving recognition as a seventy year member. Survivors include his daughters Dolly Sue (Jim) Mounts of Summertown, Tennessee, Norma Amanda (Bobby) Workman of Cats Square, North Carolina and Gracie Kay (Katy) (Lacy) Cox of Wilkinson, West Virginia. One Son James Charles (Debbie) Frazier of Stirrat, West Virginia, nine grandchildren Suzanne d'Ablaing, Deborah Scott, Stephanie Morehead, Christopher Workman, Kimberly Conner, Josh Cox, Seth Cox, Katrina Cox and Debrina Robinson, 19 great grandchildren, 3 step children Clifford (Janice) Collins, Earl (Francis) Collins and Donna (Larry) Thompson, 3 sisters Ruby Boyd, Jewel Hurley and Hazel Childers and a host of neices and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday December 3, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lacy Cox Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Wednesday December 2, 2009 at James Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Chris Workman, Josh Cox, Seth Cox, Mark Cox, Ben Workman, Richard d"Ablaing and Earl Collins.
