James H. Cook, 78 of Vienna, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 26, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center at Parkersburg, WV surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 13, 1939 at Holden, WV to the late Henry and Josephine (Hughes) Cook. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: his siblings, Garnet Rucker, Henry Cook, Billy Cook, Hershel Cook, Frieda Picklesimer, and Catherine Morris.
He graduated from Logan High School in 1959. Shortly after, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and proudly served his country from 1959 â 1962. He then spent 30 years at the Winfield Lock and Dam and retired as Assistant Lockmaster. All who knew âJimâ loved and adored him. His kind, gentle heart and dedication to his family will never be forgotten.
He is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Linda (Ellis) Cook; his daughter, Pamela Pickrell of Vienna; his son, James H. Cook Jr. (Stephen Smith) of Las Vegas, NV; his grandchildren, Caitlin (Jared) Hanson of Belpre, OH, Brandon Pickrell of Morgantown, WV, and Tyler Bass and David Harr of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by: one brother, Frank (Doris) Cook of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Eleanor Clark of Virginia, Linda Pohitsky of Charlotte, NC, and Deanna (Columbus) Chaffin of McConnelsville, OH, and many nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-laws.
Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday December 29 at the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Godby.
