Jack Davis, 91 of Henlawson departed this life Friday January 13 at his residence following a battle with skin cancer. God blessed him with 90 years of good health with his health failing in 2016.
He was born June 21, 1925 at Ferrellsburg, WV to the late Frank Davis and Anna Thompson Davis. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: his wife, Connie Hale Davis; brothers Robert, Cleophas, and Albert; and sister, Nora (Susie) Hale.
He was a retired underground coal miner working almost 40 years without an accident. He last worked for Island Creek Coal Company. Jack was a member of the Crooked Creek Church of Christ since 1980 serving as a Deacon for 20 years.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his daughter, Karen (Melvin) Dingess of Godby Heights; his grandson who he loved more than anything, David (Crystal) Gore of Mitchell Heights; great-granddaughter, Hillary Gore; and great-grandson âBaby Gâ who is due the first of March; brother, Cornelius (John) Davis of Henlawson; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. He never met a stranger.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregiver, Sherri.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday January 17 at the Crooked Creek Church of Christ with Ralph Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6 â 9 p.m. Monday January 16 at Akers-James Funeral Home in Logan.
