Irene B. Stollings
Irene B. Stollings 94, of Logan, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 18, 2015. She was born on Sept. 27, 1921 to the late Mildred and R.J. Blankenship. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. "Bill" Stollings, daughter, Sharon Stollings Wilson, and brother Harry Blankenship.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Logan. She will be remembered for her strong spirit, compassion for others and love for her family. Being with her grandchildren always brought great joy to her life.
Irene was passionate about her career as a teacher. She taught first grade at Justice Grade School for over 25 yrs. She then went on to substitute teach at Logan Middle School until the age of 93. She enjoyed taking care of her flower gardens, loved to read, and treasured time with her many dear friends. She was proud to be a member of the "Golden Girls". She will be remembered by special friends Betty, Pat, Terri, Tammy and Shirley.
She is survived by her loving daughter Sally Humphrey (Randy) of Cross Lanes, grandchildren, Amy Wilson of San Diego, CA, Mark Wilson (Krystal) of Teays Valley, Julie Pierce of Charleston, and Lynn Shumate (John) of Ft. Lauderdale FL. Also surviving are 8 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at James Funeral Home, Logan, on Mon., Nov. 23, at 12 p.m. with pastor Jim Musgrave officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to First Presbyterian Church of Logan, 622 Stratton St., Logan, WV 25601 or Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd., W., Charleston WV 25387-2536.
