Herma Louise Elkins

Herma Louise Elkins, 93, of Switzer, WV passed in the early hours of Palm Sunday with family at her bedside.

Herma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, fur baby mother and defined how a true Christian should live their life. Her bible was her daily source of energy. She attended New Hope Assembly

Of God in Switzer, WV.

Herma was born October 30, 1931, at Culver, KY to the loving parents of Merida & Esther Gilliam.

Proceeding her in death was her beloved husband, Donald Eugene Elkins, brothers Charles “Charlie’, and Robert “Bobby”, Gilliam, sisters Edith Faye Slater, Eula Duncan, and Rose Evelyn Dotson.

Survivors include her son Danny Eugene Elkins, Sr. (Judy K), of Switzer, WV her only grandchild Danny Eugene Elkins, Jr., of Four Oaks, NC. Special cousin Linda Varney of Sarah Ann, WV along with a dear friend Bill Prentice, of Four Oaks, NC.

Special nieces Debbie “Dotson” Wallace of Holden, WV, Deborah Jeffers of Switzer, WV, and Christy Dawn Slater-Tome, of Charleston, WV.

Herma’s daughter-in-law Judy was always considered a daughter who was always by her side through life and until her last breath was taken.

At her request a private graveside service was held at Highland Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

Shane Dennison and Harold McMillen, Jr. officiated. Family & Friends served as Pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers Sharon Cannon, Libby Phillips, Morgan Ramirez, Sue Shepard and Lynn Hatfield.
