Helen Virginia Elkins

Helen Virginia Bliffen Bridges Elkins, 78, of Wild and Wonderful West Logan, West Virginia passed away on the cloudy day of April 26th, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones.

Born to Rufus Jess and Mary Bliffen on July 8th, 1943 in Monaville, WV being one of thirteen siblings. Mother of Bobby Ray Bridges II and Holly Bridges Miller. Wife of William Clarence Elkins for 31 years. Stepmother of C. Chad Hayes-Elkins. Grandmother of Jordan Bridges, Caleb Bridges, and Stevie Miller. Great Grandmother of Gracie Bridges, Jackson Bridges, and Olivia Bridges.

Helen was predeceased by her father and her mother, her first husband Bobby Ray Bridges of 21 years, honorary family member Billie Miller Jeffery, and her siblings: Georgia Isaacs, Joyce Thompson, Jack Bliffen, Gary Bliffen, Ralph Bliffen, Annadaire Gutierrez, Johnny Bliffen, Mary Jane Bartram, Charles Edward Bliffen, Michael Bliffen.

She is survived by her husband Clarence Elkins; children Bobby Ray Bridges II and spouse Jackie, Holly Bridges Miller; stepson C. Chad Hayes-Elkins and spouse Michael; siblings Sherry Gerard and Jerry Bliffen; in-laws Linda Collier, David Elkins, Terry Elkins, and Mary Butcher; her three grandchildren Jordan Bridges and spouse Erica; Caleb Bridges and spouse Ashleigh, Stevie Miller and spouse Liza, her three great-grandchildren Gracie, Jackson, and Olivia Bridges; her best friend Chris Jones; and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Helen liked to go fast. She traveled far and wide. She would be on your doorstep at the drop of a penny, for she always put her loved ones first. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother.

There’s another star in the sky, one that will be missed greatly.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Akers-James Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service, Saturday at the funeral home.
