Harry C. Gartin

Harry C. Gartin, 92, of West Logan passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at his residence after a brief illness. Wonderfully cared for by his wife of 68 years, Hazel L Gartin, nieces, Peggy and Ronna McClure, nephew, Randy Robinette and the kind and compassionate nurses of Dignity Hospice, Ashlee, Mashawna, Sandy, Paula, Rita and Missy. Harry was a Christian gentleman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a respectful friend and neighbor. He was a member of the Logan Nazarene Church. He was Father of the Year in 1993. Harry was a retired railroader, retiring from C&O Railroad in 1980. Harry was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Louis Gartin. He parents, Jesse W. Gartin and Polly Etta Acord Gartin. His brothers; Luther, Robert and Clude Richard Gartin. Sisters; Ethel Taylor, Lucy Simmons and Virginia Louise Robinette. Harry is survived by his wife, Hazel Gartin of West Logan. His sons; Richard (Sharon) Gartin of Raleigh, N.C., Edwin V. (Barbara) Gartin of Lowell, AR. Granddaughters, Nancy (Bobby) Gartin-Checchi of Tarrytown, NY. and Meredith L. Gartin of Tempe, AZ. His great-grandson, Gavin Checchi of Tarrytown, NY. He is also survived by his brother, Jesse W. (Mary) Gartin of Coram, Ny and by his special nieces and nephews and friends and neighbors. Visitation will be Saturday, November 24, 2007 from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Sunday, November 25, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Cale officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
