Harold McCloud, 82 of Verdunville & Mitchell Heights passed on to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday March 18 at Logan Regional Medical Center after many years of illness. Harold was born February 26, 1935 the son of Mattie Carter McCloud and Roy McCloud of Verdunville.
Harold is survived by his wife of 57 years Norma Baisden McCloud and one daughter, Sandra McCloud of Charles Town, WV. Other survivors are his brother, Leslie McCloud & niece, Nancy Ann McCloud of Tucson, AZ; sister, Marie White of Chauncey, WV; niece Susie Davis and Charles Rakes and extended family who loved him dearly.
Beloved family passing before him were: Easter Rakes, Belva Napier, Ben McCloud, Sidney McCloud, Hershell McCloud, John & James McCloud, Phyllis Watts, and Ronald Gene Rakes.
The wake will be Tuesday evening from 6 â 8 p.m. at Akers-James Funeral Home at Aracoma. Services will be conducted by Jack Baisden and Tyler Browning on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment with military rites will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Harold graduated from LHS, class of 1955 and immediately joined the U.S. Air Force. He served as a Budget, Auditing, and Accounting Specialist attached to the 16th & 17th AF. He was stationed in Madrid, Spain and was afforded the opportunity to travel to bases in Europe & North Africa. He loved his country and was proud to serve. Upon his return, he worked as an Office Manager for several local coal related businesses.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Joseph Lee Harris, Harold David Napier, Kenneth Scaggs, Terrell Webb, Henderson Baisden Jr., and Eddie Joe Canterbury. Honorary pallbearers will be: Ernest Martin III, Eddie Canterbury, Timmothy Browning, and Joseph Edward Canterbury.
His wife and daughter would to thank Dr. Dev A Rellan and the caring physicians at HIMG in Huntington, WV and Logan Regional Medical Center for making the family comfortable during his final hours. Norma & Sandra also want to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to his private nurse, Lisa Ann Baisden Jeffrey. Haroldâs love and trust in her was profound.
