Geneva Ellis, 87 of Verdunville went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 12, 2017. She was a member of Central United Baptist Church. She loved her family, church family, animals, traveling, and Special Olympics. She attended Logan High School and worked at G.C. Murphy, Budget Shop, Raymondâs, and the Logan Mercantile.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Everett Hanks and Ida (Wooten) Hanks, her husband Everett Edward (Sonny) Ellis, Jr., five brothers Jack Hanks of Oceana, Gene Hanks of Logan, Frank Hanks of Stollings, Everett Hanks of Ashland and Sherwood Hanks of Ashland, and two sisters Fannie Baylis of Delaware, and Mary (Hanks) Webb of Holden.
She is survived by a son, Charles Edward (JayAnna Adkins) Ellis of Verdunville and a daughter, Bonnie Ellis of Verdunville, a granddaughter Kelly Ann (Mike) Aleshire of Chapmanville, and a great granddaughter Lauren Grace Aleshire of Chapmanville, sister-in-law Juanita (Ellis) Hall of Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday May 16 at Akers-James Funeral Home at Logan with Revs. Randy Skeens and Lonnie Gore officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Pallbearers will be Charles Ellis, Mike Aleshire, Mark Adkins, Larry Brammer, Bo Ellis, and John Collins, and honorary pallbearers David Adkins, William (Bill) Wooten, III and Garth Hensley.
Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday also at the funeral home.
