Eugene Allen Bowen

Eugene Allen Bowen, 58, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 6th, 2017 at his residence. Gene (aka “Hoppy,” as his grandchildren affectionately called him) was born August 14th, 1958 in Logan, West Virginia. He was a standout athlete at Logan High School in football, baseball, and basketball. He also attended Concord College, where he played football. He married his high school sweetheart, Deborah George, and raised his family in Georgia, where he worked in construction for many years. He had many loves…his family, children, grandchildren, sports, coaching, golfing, and sharing Facebook photos. He was well-known for his sense of humor, friendly personality, and generosity. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Bowen, his mother, Bertha Pertee, his sisters, Wanda and Deborah. He leaves his three children and eight grandchildren: daughter, Brooke, and her husband Adam of Marble Hill, GA, and their children, Brody, Brock, and Charlee; son, Jesse, and his wife Sherry of Canton, GA, and their children, Alexis, Brayden, and Brooklynn; son, Brad, and his wife, Rachel of Canton, GA, and their children, Ella and Evie. He also leaves his brothers and sisters: Carol, Jean, Brenda, Lucy, Hank, Judy, Lewis, Tina, Barbara, James, and Sandra. He had many cousins, nieces, and nephews as well. Services will be held at 1pm, Saturday, June 10th, at Akers-James Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service, Saturday also at the funeral home.
