Ellen Dillo Gibson

Ellen Dillo Gibson, 93 of Wilkinson passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019 at her home with her loved ones by her side. She was born March 24, 1926 on Lowe’s Mountain to the late Maudie and Lewis Dillo. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Alvie Gibson; son, David Lee Gibson; grandson, Davey Robertson; and sisters, Janice Allen. Ellen was a lifelong member of the Yolyn Community Church. She was formerly employed at the G.C. Murphy Restaurant and she loved to spend time with her family. She will be sadly missed by her family: son, Tom Gibson of Wilkinson; daughters, Linda Robertson of Davin, and Gay (Johnny) Owsley of Mill Creek; grandchildren, Lavonda Alderman, Eddie (Anissa) Thompson, J.J. (Becky) Owsley, Jarrod (Jennifer) Owsley, and Misty (Ricky) Browning; great-grandchildren, Crystal Alderman, Alicia Alderman, Kourtne (Kyle) Johnson, Chase Thompson, Mason Browning, Piper Browning, Kira Owsley (Fiancé Ducky Adams), Madison Davis, Kaleb Owsley, Zachary Owsley, and Kaylee Owsley; a great-great-grandchild due in March; and a very special niece and caregiver, Pam Colegrove Evans. The family would to send a very special thank you to Dignity Hospice, the ICU staff at LRMC, and Dr. Kathy Harvey. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday August 18, 2019 at Akers-James Funeral Home with her grandson, Evangelist Eddie Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lowes Cemetery at Rum Creek. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the funeral home.
