Donald Carl Steele

“There isn’t anything noble about being superior to another person. True nobility is in being superior to the person you once were” unknown Donald Carl Steele, 73, went to be with his Lord December 11, 2015. He was born September 14, 1942 in Henlawson, West Virginia to the late Carl and Joyce (Mooney) Steele. Don came to Manatee County in 1998 from Lawrenceville, Georgia. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church, the Manatee Masonic Lodge #31 and the Sahib Shriners in Sarasota. After over 20 years, he retired from service to our country in the US Navy. He then became an A/C & Heating contractor. Following his 2nd retirement, he was active with his A/C & Heating Retirees group meeting once a month. He also enjoyed time with his monthly men’s breakfast group, his local wine tasting group and was a season ticket holder along with several friends for the Manatee Players Theater. Don loved travel, taking cruises, skiing, music, RVing and was a skilled model railroader. Don had a unique habit of reading technical books and articles on how things worked. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 27 years, Marcia; sons, Brad Steele and his wife Robin of High Springs, Florida and Don Steele Jr. and his wife Laura of Pelham, Alabama; grandchildren, Morgan, Dawson, Madison, Samuel, Molly and Macy; and nieces, Kelly, Bailey and Rylee. There will be a visitation on Friday, December 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Bible Baptist Church, 2113 Morgan Johnson Road, Bradenton, Florida 34208. Funeral service including military honors will be on Saturday, also at the church at 11:00 am. Graveside services and interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens in Pecks Mill, West Virginia.
