Donald Ray Hensley, 81 of Logan, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus at his home surrounded by his loving family on October 16, 2023.
He was born on March 13, 1942, in Logan to the late Jesse and Flossie Hensley. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Donetta Hensley, Peggy Adkins, Pat Hobbs, and Sandra (Holly) Hensley; brothers, Bobby Hensley, and Joseph “Joe” Hensley, who was his best friend; and his loving daughter, Robin Dawn Butcher.
Donald was a retired coal miner, he was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and wonderful friend.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Larry (Doris) Hensley of Logan, WV; sister, Janet (Luke) Burgess of Logan, WV; special sister, June “MeMe” Hensley; loving wife of 61 years, Ernestine Hensley; daughter, Tonya (Bob) Pack of Linwood, NC; son, Donald G. (Princess) Hensley of Mud Fork, WV; son, Sean (Amber) Butcher of Wharncliffe, WV; grandchildren, Danielle (Jacob) Mounts of Logan, WV, Derek (Cecily) Pack of Lexington, NC, Erin "Scooter" (Brandon) Pack of Lexington, NC, Trevor L. (Calley) Hensley, Josh (Shyann) Hensley of Chapmanville, WV, and many great-grandchildren who where his hearts. He is also survived by a host of other loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Akers-James Funeral Home with Pastor Scottie Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Derek Pack, Sean Butcher, Chris Vance, Trevor Hensley, Bookie (Jesse) Hensley, and Aaron Hensley. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry (Rocky) Hensley and Donald G. Hensley.
