On Friday April 7, a wonderful man that was loved by all who knew him took his final flight to be with his Heavenly Father, who he loved and served.
Delmas âDukeâ Jonas, 81 of Verdunville was born July 7, 1935 in Logan County to the late Jim and Zeva Mullins Jonas. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: his borther, Don Jonas; his father and mother-in-law, Arthur âBodieâ and Valerie Marie Adkins.
Duke served in the armed force in the Korea Conflict. He was a member of the Verdunville Church of God.
Those left behind that will miss him so much are: his wife, Donna Rose Adkins Jonas whom he loved dearly for 48 years; sisters, Nausie Alfrey of Verdunville and Bernice Bates of IN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Doris Adkins, Benny and Catherine Adkins, Herbert and Joan Adkins, Billy and Susie Adkins, Joy and Roger Ellis, Dora & Richard Johnson, Doris Adkins, Orville Adkins; a special friend, his brother-in-law, Roger Ellis that he loved like a brother; he also left behind a host of nieces and nephews that loved him dearly and he thought of them as his children.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday April 12 at the Verdunville Church of God with Pastor Michael Hartwell and Rev. Billy Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Richard Johnson & Roger Ellis.
