David Lee Lunsford Sr.

David Lee Lunsford Sr., 74 of Logan, passed away peacefully at home October 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with dementia.

He was born February 28, 1952 in Logan, WV to the late Ruby and William Lunsford. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon K. Lunsford; his brother, Kenneth Lunsford, and his sister, Barb Lunsford.

David proudly served his country in the United States Army before returning home to Chapmanville, WV where he worked in the coal mines until his retirement. David will be remembered for the life he lived, the love he shared, and the memories he created with those closest to him. Though his passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends, his memory will live on through the generations who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, David Lee Lunsford Jr. (Tonya), his sister, Linda, and brother, Larry; grandchildren, Zachary Lunsford, and Desiree Lunsford (Zachary Osborne), and his precious great-grandson, Gabriel Lee Lunsford.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2026, at James Funeral Home, Logan, WV with Pastor Scottie Watkins officiating. Burial will military rites will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service, Thursday at the funeral home.
