Darrell Lee Ellis, affectionately known as "Suggie," passed away on June 25, 2024, at the age of 69 surrounded by family. He was born on August 28, 1954, in Boone County, WV, and had resided the rest of his years in Logan County, WV.
Darrell was a man who was passionate about football and spending time conversing with his loved ones over the phone.
Known for his infectious smile and jovial nature, Darrell was always ready with a joke and had a giving spirit. He believed in the saying, "When the Lord givieth, the Lord taketh." As a devoted Christian, he found solace and strength in his faith.
Preceding him in death is his father Richard Ellis and Mother Jessie Amogene Nease both of Logan Wv. Grandmother, Mary Thelma (Thomas) Nease. Also, from Logan County Wv.
Darrell is survived by one sister Mary (Hank) Abbott of, Logan Wv and one brother David (Jamie) Ellis of, Kershaw SC, of whom he shared a strong bond with throughout his life. Four strong & Proud sons, Chris (Melissa) Ellis,Jason (Kristina) Ellis, Eric (Brittany) Ellis and Jody Ellis all from Logan WV. Two daughters, who were his pride and joy, Amanda (Michael) Ellis of Belfry ky. and Jennifer (Mikey) Ellis Addair of Logan Wv. He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and two great-granddaughters and a host of family and very special friend Maxie Blackburn. Although he was separated from his wife Joann Ellis, their memories together remain cherished.
Throughout his life, Darrell served as a protector and confidant to those who loved him. He impacted the lives of many with his caring nature and will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Akers-James Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Ellis Family Cemetery at Monito. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of the service, Saturday at the funeral home. Friends and family are invited to come together to remember and honor his memory.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Akers-James Funeral Home to help with the expenses.
