Daisy Adkins

Daisy Adkins, 90, of Verdunville, went to her heavenly home on April 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to her family.

Daisy was born on April 3, 1936, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Tavie Mathis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Dale Adkins; brothers, James Mathis and Lonnie Jr. (Christine) Mathis; sisters, Thelma Mathis, Rosalie Shaw, and Ruby (Bernace) Richardson; granddaughter Denise Meeks sister-in-law, Alice Mathis; and brother-in-law, Bernard Townsend.

Daisy was a member of Maryetta United Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she carried the values of compassion, love, and a deep devotion to the Lord. She was known for her gentle spirit, caring heart, and the strong love she had for her family.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Judy (Wandle) Meeks, Roger (Joann) Adkins, Vella (Timmy) David, and Dana (Brandi) Adkins, all of Verdunville. Sister Carol Townsend, of Berea, Ohio and brother, Thomas “T.F.” Mathis, of Chapmanville, WV.

Grandchildren: Angel (Eric) Ferrell, Ashley (Norris) Harvey, Scott (Keshia) Hutchinson, Brandon (Brittany) Adkins, Kari (Tony) Casey, Dylan (Chelsea) Adkins, Alexa Adkins, and Jada Adkins.

Her legacy continues through her Great-Grandchildren: Emily, Lucas, and Liam Ferrell; Braylie and Avery Adkins; Sebastian, Millie, and Quenton Casey; and a baby girl Adkins who is due in August.

Daisy’s love extended through generations, and her family was her greatest pride and joy. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held Thursday from 6–9 p.m. at Akers-James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home with Rev. Barney Goins officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
