Charles E. Childers, 82, of Stollings died Wednesday evening at Logan Regional Medical Center from complications of Lung Cancer. He was born June 13, 1924 in Gloe, KY to Andy and Florence Shook Childers. He retired from Sharples Coal Co. in 1987 after 47 years. He was a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church of Rita for 42 years, served as deacon for 39 years and was a faithful member who will be sadly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his son, Forrest Childers and his daughter, Geneva Blackburn of Virginia, Three brothers; Bill, Joe and Chalmer. Two sisters; Betty and Helen. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Anna Sue (Markis) Childers. His children, Charles (Reva) Childers Jr. of Glendale, Oklahoma, Thomas (Anita) Childers and Larry (Jill) Childers both of Dunkirk, IN. Four brothers; Jackson (Susie) Childers, Robert (Sharon) Childers of Cape Cod, Fla., Delmar (Joyce) Childers of Texas and Larry Childers of Moundsville, WV. Five sisters; Barbara (Hank), Minnie (Orly), Nicky (William) and Elizabeth (Robert) all of Cleveland, Ohio and Donna of Texas. Fifteen grandchildren, Twent-Four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and friends. Visitation will be Friday December 8, 2006 from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M at James Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday December 9, 2006 at 10:00 A.M at James Funeral Home with Rev. John T. Vance and Rev. Fribble Scaggs officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
