Benny Joe Justice

Benny Joe Justice, 95 of Whitman, WV, left this world on Friday, May 17, at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, WV.

Benny was born on September 5, 1928, in Martin County, KY.  He was the son of John A. and Mary Elda (Endicott) Justice.

Benny was raised on Rock Castle Creek, KY, and later on Silver Creek, WV, in Wayne County.  He spoke frequently of the happy days of his youth.  After suffering a back injury as a teenager, Benny spent more than four years as a patient at Huntington Orthopedic Hospital.  While there, he graduated from Huntington High School and Huntington School of Business.  Benny then worked as an accountant and branch manager for Royal Crown Bottling Company, Logan, WV, for 48 years.  Before completely retiring, he also worked in sales at L&S Chevrolet and Oldsmobile, Mingo Bottling Company, and Thornhill GM Superstore.

Benny married the love of his life, Wanda (Trogdon) Justice, on December 8, 1955.  The couple raised three children.  He was a member of the #20 Whitman Community Church.  It has been said of Benny that anyone who knew him admired him for his patience and honesty.

Benny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Elda Justice; his siblings, Edward (Nannie) Justice, America (Willis) Williamson, Floyd (Nona) Justice, Ulysses (Alka) Justice, Sarah Justice, George Justice, Ray Justice, Charles (Pauline) Justice, Josie (Steve) Meadows, and Harold (Beatrice) Justice; his son, John “Kevin” Justice; and grand-daughter Katrina DeBord.  

Benny is survived by his wife, Wanda, and his children, Timothy Justice and Mary Beth (Earl) Holstein; his grandchildren:  Kristen Craddock, Whitney (Kory) Holder, Cassie (Jeff) Isaacs, John K. Justice, II, Alexander Justice, Bryan E. Justice, Lauren (Zachary) McClung, Ryan (Madison) Holstein, and Anna Holstein; his great-grandchildren: Danny Hazelwood, Olivia Craddock, Kynlee Holder,   Kelsee Holder, Jacob Isaacs, JaxonIsaacs, Hanna Justice, Parker Justice, Preston Justice, Mason Justice, and Adler McClung; and great-great-grandchild Ezra Hazelwood; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Each of whom he said was one of his favorites.

Visitation is Thursday, May 23, 6:00-9:00 P.M. at #20 Whitman Community Church.  Funeral service is Friday, May 24, at noon at the church with internment following at Highland Memory Gardens.  Akers-James Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
