Barbara Lou Webb Long 77 of Crooked Creek took her last breath of air departing from this life at her residence surrounded by her family and caregivers on Tuesday September 7, 2010 at 9:09 P.M. preceding her in death are her parents the late Chester and Garnett Webb Pennington and Step Father Floyd Pennington. Surviving her is her husband of 56 years Gwen R. Londg and three children Melody Long and Rodney Adkins, David and Tammy Long and Dana Long and Kenny Furrow, four grandchildren Kelli Adkins Vincil, Leslie Long Gibson, Bethany Long Hatfield and Lil David Long, nine great grandchildren. Barbara was the oldest of her 6 siblings Charles and Sandy Webb, Charlotte Webb Wren, Kenneth and Wanda Webb, Janice Pennington Holton and Brenda Pennington. She was also loved and adored by many special nieces, nephews and in-laws. A homemaker she was an amazing wife, mother,grandmother,great grandmother and a wonderful friend to all. She was a truely umble, caring, understanding and loving christian woman and attended the Central United Baptist Church for 52 years raising up her children and grandchildren in the way of the Lord. She was also part of the Central United Baptist Church ladie auxillary where she served as President lead the songs for fellowship and prayer. She also taught children's classes for the Sunday School. Barbara and Gwen were always involved in church functions from cooking always being in the kitchen to making applebutter and faithfully attending retreats down at the Salt Rock church camp and the Bethlehem Association. She always wore a sweet smile on her face and never met a stranger touching all those blessed enough to have known her over the years. Funeral services will be conducted Friday September 10, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Central United Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn White And Rev. Lonnie Gore officiating. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery at Branchland. Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Thursday September 9, 2010 at the church.
