Arnold Bowen

Arnold Bowen, 96, of Wilkinson, WV went home to be with the Lord on Sunday May 14, 2023.  He was born on July 7, 1926, in Little Laurel, KY.  In Heaven, he was reunited with his wife of 57 years, Goldie Bowen.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Essie Bowen, siblings Velma Kirk, Hubert Bowen, Chester Bowen, Renda Booth, Julius Bowen, Hazel Loraine Bowen, and Harold Gene Bowen. 

He leaves behind a family that he loved well.  Among family that will be left to cherish his memory are his children, Connie Tomblin of Wilkinson, Gary (Dana) Bowen of Wilkinson, and Karen Oliver of Yuma.  Grandchildren, Kenny (Jamie) Tomblin of Mitchell Heights, Kevin (Cheryl) Tomblin of Holden, Amy (Michael) Holley of Barboursville, Aaron (Angelina) Oliver of Williamson, Rhonda (Brian) Adkins of Nitro. Great Grandchildren Faith Oliver, Jenna Tomblin, Anna Holley, Kenlee Tomblin, Jake Holley, and Brianna Adkins. Siblings Paul Bowen of Columbus, OH, Scott Bowen of Hode, KY, Joshua Bowen of Columbus, NC, Pauline Alley of Hode, KY and Beatrice Cordle of Columbus, OH along with many special nephews and nieces.

Arnold was always a man of Faith and a great example of God’s love and grace.  He was a founding member of Faith Baptist Temple in Stollings where he was a deacon and a trustee of the church.  He also spent many years singing in the choir and a men’s quartet.  Later in life, he was a member of the Logan Church of the Nazarene where he was a much-loved prayer warrior.  He was well known for his work ethic.  He worked in the coal mines for over 25 years and was a Certified Mine Foreman and a Certified Mine Electrician.  While working in the coal mines he simultaneously built Bowen’s Cablevision.  He owned and operated Bowen’s Cablevision for over 40 years with the help of his wife and family.   He loved farming and was very good at it.  He loved to share his harvest with his friends and family.  He was also a proud Kentucky Colonel. 

The family would be honored to have you celebrate his life and home-going with them.  His visitation is scheduled for Thursday May 18, 2023, from 6-9 at the Logan Church of the Nazarene.  His Funeral service is Friday May 19, 2023, at 11am.  Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Logan, WV. The pallbearers will be Kenny Tomblin, Kevin Tomblin, Aaron Oliver, Michael Holley, Brian Adkins, and Mitchell Bowen. Jake Holley will be an honorary pallbearer.
