Rex “Punkun” Flint, 73 of Whitman was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 9, 2020. Punkun had been hospitalized since New Years Day at CAMC Memorial at Charleston, WV due to his heart. Anyone who knew him knows how he struggled with his vision problems and kidney dialysis. He never gave up. Punkun was a fighter to the end but his heart just quit. Such a precious soul heaven has gained.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Flint; mother, Reba (Flint) Skeens; sister, Rosalie Hill; and his first wife, Leanna (Webb) Flint. He was an avid car enthusiast and shared a special bond with his brother, Butch, restoring vintage cars. He is well known to be the “go to man” for anything car related. He will surely be missed by friends and family. Above all, more than anything he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is now sitting at the feet of Jesus.

Punkun leaves behind a loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Betty (Brogan) Flint; daughters, Rexanna (Jeff) Brook; Shannon (Matt) Wolfe; and Tommi (Justin) Kern; grandchildren, Alex Brook, Austin Kennedy, Emily Kitchens, Joseph Kennedy, Brogan Kern, and Jackson Kern; great-grandchildren, Grace Kitchens and Bonnie Kennedy; brother, James “Butch” Flint; two sisters, Nancy Call and Brenda Wolford.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the 5&6 Holden Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Light, Pastor Joaquin Ooten, and Pastor Bob Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Mark Curry, Scott Lukacs, Jamie Aleshire, Justin Kern, Kelly Flint, and Matt Wolfe.
